Oxley High School is situated in North Tamworth, Australia. It has approximately 1200 students. The school has four sport houses - Namoi (green), Castlereagh (blue), Macquarie (red) and Hastings (yellow). Oxley has 70 full-time teachers, and approximately 12 casual teachers at any one time. It caters for special needs students, with IO classes and support staff.
Achievements
In 2006, the boys' state hockey team, the girls' state hockey team, and the girls' state cricket team were state champions. In 2008 a syndicate from Oxley won round 2 of the Australian Stock Exchange Sharemarket Game. In 2007 Oxley won the Law Society's State Mock Trial competition, becoming the first country school to do so. Recently the boys' state knockout Cricket team repeated the feat of the girls' team of 2006 by becoming State Champions, defeating Endeavour Sports High School in the final. Oxley High School also hosts a number of Creative And Performing Arts opportunities at the school. Some of which include the variety concert, 'Oxley Live' and the highly sought after, 'Oxley Dance Showcase'.
A number of students have achieved national and international recognition for their Creative And Performing Art associations, some of which include the prestigious 'Schools Spectacular' as soloists, choral involvements, and orchestral involvements. in 2011 a number of students travelled to Hawaii to partake in the International band competition which won a silver medal. Many students are actively involved in the regional variety showcase, 'CAPERS' and 'Dance Festival' in all facets from performing to production. With many going on to be successful in the Talent Development Project and international arts involvement.
Castlereagh Fire
On the 18th of March, 2012, Oxley High School's Castlereagh block was destroyed by fire.
