P. A. Ibrahim Haji (6 September 1943 – 21 December 2021) was an Emirati-based Indian businessman, numerous fields. Ibrahim was a billionaire entrepreneur who had great success in the education,[2] automotive, and jewellery[3][4] industries and many more. He was the chairman of PACE Education group,[2] founder and vice-chairman of the Indus Motor Company[5], and co-chairman and key investor of Malabar Gold.[3][4][6][7][8]

Early life

Ibrahim was born on 6 September 1943, in Pallikkere, in Kasaragod, Kerala, India. His parents were Abdulla Ibrahim Haji, a textile merchant and Aysha. He attended the Government Mappila LP School, and later the Kottikulam Government Fisheries High School. After completing his schooling, he pursued his diploma in automobile engineering in Chennai.[9][7][10]

Career

In 1999, Ibrahim created the PACE Education Group, an educational trust which provides education from kindergarten up to higher secondary school levels in Indian and British curricula, as well as providing undergraduate and post graduate degrees in engineering and management in the United Arab Emirates and India.[2][11][10]

Haji was the chairman of the PACE Education Group and the co-chairman of the Malabar Group. He was also the founder and vice-chairman of the Indus Motor Company.[12]

Honours

  • Selected by APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University as a member of the Board of Governors of the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University which is the affiliation body for technical education in Kerala, India.[13]

  • Honorary degree of Doctor of Letters, Honoris Causa (Hon. D. Litt.), by the University of Science & Technology Meghalaya[19][20][21]

Death

On 21 December 2021, Ibrahim suffered a stroke in Dubai. He was then moved to Kozhikode in an air ambulance, before dying on 21 December 2021, at the age of 78 at Aster MIMS hospital in Kozhikode.[10][22][23] His funeral was completed at the Vettikode Najmul Huda Madrasa in Manjeri.[24]
