Paschim Maharashtra is a region of India's western Maharashtra state, which includes districts of Pune, Solapur, Ahmednagar, Satara, Sangli, Nashik and Kolhapur

This region is prosperous belt and is famous for its sugar factories. Farmers in the region are economically well off due to fertile land, good irrigation.

Politics

Politics in Western Maharashtra is linked with cooperative movement. Most of sugar cooperative factories in western Maharashtra work as power center and play major role in politics.
