Career
Spencer was the chief executive of the failed Garrington Home Finders firm,[3] a property search agency he established in 1996 to help buyers with property search, negotiation and purchase process. It was his promotion of Garrington and the concept of using a buying agent to find a home that led Spencer to become the co-host of Location, Location, Location and Relocation, Relocation.[citation needed] His company, Garrington Home Finders, was reported as allegedly laying off staff without redundancy payoffs in early 2009[4] as it sought a buyer to keep the business going. No buyers were found for the failing company and Phil had to put his own money into Garrington Home Finders in a bid to save it. However, the cash injection could not support the failing business model and it subsequently laid off all 10 members of staff and went into administration in February 2009.[5]
