Pirathon was an ancient town mentioned in the Bible. While some scholars speculate on its likely location, its exact whereabouts are not known.[1] However, it is known that the town was located in modern Palestine, in the area once held by the Israelite tribe of Ephraim.[2] The town is notable because one of King David's captains (or "mighty ones") originated there. Also, a leader of Biblical Israel, namely Abdon, made his home in this town.
