Pombal (Portuguese pronunciation: [põˈbaɫ]) is a city and a municipality in Leiria District in the sub region Pinhal Litoral in Portugal. The population in 2011 was 55,217,[1] in an area of 626.00 km².[2] The population of the city of Pombal proper is about 18,000 inhabitants.

The municipality is served by a main railway station.

The present[when?] Mayor is Luís Diogo de Paiva Morão Alves Mateus, elected by the Social Democratic Party. The municipal holiday is November 11 and celebrates St. Martin's Day.
