Ponta Jalunga is a point located nearly a kilometer northeast of the center of Furna on the island of Brava in southwestern Cape Verde. It is connected with a single track linking to Furna, the other parts of the island and its port. The point is being the northeasternmost are on the island. Over a kilometer northwest in another point is the northernmost point on the island. Not being the closest to the island of Fogo as it is around 4 km south of the point being the closest, northwest in another point is the closest landmass to the islet of Ilhéu Secos being around 8 km distant from Ilhéu Grande. The promontory is a mountainous area as is many other parts of the island, the highest area ranges from 50 to 100 meters high. Its headland is 1 km tall and includes the north part of the town of Furna. Around a kilometer west is a windmill powering electricity for the island.

During the Ice Age, the point was about a kilometer east of its current location.

The point was mentioned as the Italian name Ponto Ghelongo (also as Ponto Gheluongo in Modern Italian) in the 1747 French/Dutch map by Jacques Nicolas Bellin.[3]

Lighthouse

Near the promontory, it has a lighthouse, one of three on the island.

The lighthouse was first constructed in 1891 and is made out of concrete bricks. The tower shape is a square prism with external staircase and lantern. It is 7.9 metres tall and its focal height at 26 metres above sea level. Its range extends to 9 nautical miles (17 km) and its light source as with many other ligthouses is solar powered. Its exterior colour is white and has a grey lantern.
