It is part of the Guntur Lok Sabha constituency along with another six Vidhan Sabha segments. It formed with five mandals in 2009 namely, Guntur mandal (except municipal corporation), Kakumanu, Prathipadu, Pedananadipadu, Vatticherukuru.^[1]^: 22, 31
