PwnageTool is an iPhone jailbreaking application for Mac OS X that creates custom iOS firmware images to user-defined specifications. These firmware images often contain the APT interface Cydia as well as additional APT packages.[citation needed]

PwnageTool was initially released April 3, 2008. It became popular when version 2.0 of iOS was released July 19, 2008.[citation needed]

Platform support

Although PwnageTool is only for Mac OS X, a Microsoft Windows version called WinPwn was developed but is now retired.
