Rachel Bakam is a Nigerian actress, writer, TV presenter and producer, and an anti-human trafficking advocate. She is the founder of Rayzeds Media Ltd,[1] president to Nigerian Water Ski & Wakeboard Federation (NWWF) and media consultant of Performing Musician Employers Association (PMAN).[2] Bakam is a peace and tourist ambassador. She is 2015 alumna of United States International Visitors Leadership Programme.[3][4] She hosts Trends & Rachel,[5] a popular television show that airs Nigerian Television Authority, African Independent Television, DSTV, and Startimes.

Early life

Bakam was born and brought up in Kaduna State by Mr. and Mrs. Adams and Rose Bakam where she had her primary, secondary, and tertiary education.[6] She studied English and theatre arts at Ahmadu Bello University[citation needed] and digital filmmaking at New York Film Academy.[citation needed] She lost her father at the age of 12.[citation needed] At the age of 16 she started working,[citation needed] first as a salesgirl in supermarket,[citation needed] later in a recording studio and played a lead role in Hausa drama series known as Rayuwa.[citation needed]

Career

She did her National Youth Service Corps at Nigerian Television Authority International, where she produced and presented different TV programmes like Trends, Saturday Morning, and Style Code.[citation needed] She proceeded to study digital film making at New York Film Academy and thereafter established Rayzed Media Ltd.[citation needed] Bakam brought water skiing and wakeboarding to Nigeria.[citation needed] In 2016, she got an endorsement deal with Numatville Megacity.[citation needed] She has joined non-government organizations,[7] such as Devatop Centre for Africa Development in campaigning against sex trafficking and other forms of modern slavery in Nigeria.[8]
