Rachel Brathen (Swedish: Rachel Bråthén,[1][2][3] IPA: [ˈrɑːkɛl broˈteːn]) is a yoga teacher[4] and the author of the book Yoga Girl,[5] which became a New York Times best-seller.[6] "Yoga Girl" is also the name of Brathen's Instagram account,[7] which had two million followers as of March 2017.[8] Brathen founded a yoga studio called Island Yoga Aruba[9] as well as the yoga video service oneOeight[10] and the non-profit 109 World.[11] In 2017, Forbes named Brathen to its list of the most important social media influencers in the fitness category, noting that Brathen can command a $25,000 fee per Instagram post.[12] Brathen also launched a podcast in March 2017,[13] which reached the iTunes charts.[12]

Born in Sweden, Brathen moved to Costa Rica to pursue yoga[14] and now lives in Aruba.[15] She speaks four languages, Swedish, English, Spanish and Papiamento (spoken on Aruba).[16] Brathen is married[17] and has a daughter, Lea Luna.[18]
