ReCore
ReCore is an upcoming action-adventure video game developed by Comcept and Armature Studio and published by Microsoft Studios for Microsoft Windows and Xbox One.
Development
ReCore was first revealed at the 2015 Electronic Entertainment Expo during Microsoft's opening press conference prior to the start of the show.[2][3] In the debut trailer for the game, a young woman is shown in a vast desert, accompanied by a robotic dog with a glowing sphere in its abdomen.[4] As the pair explore a vault, they are attacked by robotic enemies.[2] The woman has a grappling hook that she uses to remove the cores from the enemies, causing them to collapse, but when the pair are about to be overwhelmed, the robot dog self-destructs to destroy the enemy robots, leaving behind its core.[2][4] The woman collects the core and finds a humanoid robot in the vault and inserts the core into it.[4] The robot comes to life, and the two appear to recognize each other again.[4]
ReCore is being designed by Comcept, which is a development studio started by Keiji Inafune, a former designer from Capcom responsible for the character design of the first three Mega Man and Mega Man X games.[5] Partnering with Comcept is Armature Studio, formed by designers who worked on Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate, and the prior Mega Man X series spinoff concept Maverick Hunter.[4] The game is directed by Mark Pacini, director of the Metroid Prime series. At the conclusion of the debut trailer, Microsoft revealed the game is to be released was to be released in the second quarter of 2016.[2] Chad Seiter, who worked on arrangements for "Pokemon: Symphonic Evolutions" and "The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses", is composing music for the game.[6] On January 4, 2016, Microsoft announced that ReCore would also be released for Microsoft Windows, but also implied that the game had been delayed.[1]
