Resident Advisor (also known as RA) is an online electronic music magazine dedicated to the global dance music scene. The website won a People's Voice award in the 12th Annual Webby Awards in 2008.[1]

Site History

RA was founded in 2001 by Paul Clement, Nick Sabine and David Berkley as a site to provide news and information relating to the Australian dance music scene. It fast outgrew its initial regional focus and by 2002, RA was covering the electronic music industry globally to an international readership.

About Resident Advisor

With offices in London and Berlin and hundreds of contributors spanning the globe, RA covers anything and everything that is electronic music-related. RA's editorial team provides news, music and event reviews, as well as interviews with leading and emerging artists. The website also manages services that include event listings, ticket sales, club and promoter directories, photo galleries, thousands of artist and record label profiles, DJ Charts, an online community and the RA Podcast.

In 2011, the site launched a series of ten parties called "RA X" so as to celebrate their tenth anniversary. The first of these was held on June 11 in London. In chronological order, the next parties were held in Barcelona, São Paulo, New York, Moscow, Sydney, Rome, Tokyo, Berlin and Amsterdam. Each party was curated by a secret guest, who determined the other DJs who would play alongside them. Additionally, ten different visual artists were enlisted to create posters for the events. Produced in runs of 75 only, the silk-screen printed posters were sold via the site itself.[2]

Interviews

In its promotion the magazine's publishers focus on RA's interviews with the industry's leading artists. Some of the DJs, artists and producers that have been interviewed include:

Podcast

The RA Podcast is an exclusive weekly mix of electronic music from top producers and DJs. It launched on March 6, 2006[3] with a mix from Troy Pierce and has since featured Fever Ray, Laurent Garnier, Richie Hawtin, Erol Alkan, Frankie Knuckles, Tensnake, Mark E and hundreds of others.

Events

RA supports, sponsors, partners, promotes and runs events and club nights. This includes:
