Robeisy Eloy Ramírez Carrazana (born December 20, 1993 in Cienfuegos) is a Cuban amateur boxer best known to win the 2012 London Olympic Games, as well as the 2011 Pan American Games at flyweight.[1] He is a southpaw.
At the 2011 World Amateur Boxing Championships he routed his first opponents but was edged out by eventual Russian champion Misha Aloyan but qualified for the Olympics. At the 2011 Pan American Games he won gold.
He won the gold medal in the men's bantamweight event at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Ramirez won four matches beating Shiva Thapa, Mahoud Mohamed, Jiawei Zhang, Akhmadaliev Murodjon to get to the final. Robeisy beat American favorite Shakur Stevenson in the gold medal match to win his second Olympic gold medal. Ramirez is considered one of the greatest amateur boxers of all time having won countless titles and 2x olympic gold medalist. Ramirez is a supremely skilled boxer with great reflexes, accuracy and speed. He can employ a tight guard or use exceptional upper body movement to make opponents miss.[2]
