Rodrigo Ely (born 3 November 1993) is a Brazilian-Italian professional footballer who currently plays for Serie A club Milan as a defender.[1][2]

Club career

Rodrigo Ely is a youth product of Brazilian club, Grêmio, having join Milan since 2010 and spent two years with the youth side before subsequent loan spells with several low tier Italian clubs.

A.S.D. Reggio Calabria

On 24 July 2012, Ely joined Reggina on a season-long loan.

Varese Calcio S.S.D.

On 16 July 2012, AC Milan confirmed that they had reached an agreement for the season-long loan of Ely to Varese.

U.S. Avellino 1912

On 21 July 2014, Ely joined Avellino on a season-long loan, with an option to buy.

AC Milan

After impressive performances with Avellino in 2014/15 season, Milan decided to bring him back to San Siro on June 10, 2015, where he signed new contract which will keep him at the club until 30 June 2019.[3] He made his debut with Milan on the first Serie A game of the 2015-16 season, in a 2-0 defeat against Fiorentina, where he unfortunately received two yellow cards, thus getting sent off.[4]

International career

Ely has actually played for Italy at Under-19 and Under-20,[5] but he has been called by Alexandre Gallo to be a part of his Brazil Under-23 squad, which is preparing to compete at Rio 2016.[6]
