Stu and Didi strive to make Tommy's first birthday a memorable one. They did, but under the wrong circumstances. Meanwhile, Tommy wants to eat dog food so he can be just like Spike, eventually selling the other Rugrats on the idea.

Tommy has received his favourite present in the whole wide world -- a ball. Angelica, who is always looking to spoil the babies fun, takes the ball and tosses it into the next yard, resulting the babies risking life and limb looking for it.;Stu and Didi ended up taking Tommy to an important dinner at Chez Ennui with Mr. Mucklehoney (president of Mucklehoney industries, a toy company) since Tiffany the babysitter (via telephone) and Grandpa have different plans (the babysitter's OTHER goldfish died and Grandpa went bowling with a friend of his, Louise). Tommy, however, has plans of his own.

Tommy wants to see "Reptar", but the parents take him, and the other Rugrats, to the Westside Octoplex to see "The Land Without Smiles" (starring the Dummi Bears) instead. The babies leave Dummi Bears to go look for Reptar (showing at the same theater) leaving a path of destruction behind them.;Angelica stays over with Tommy, but her desire for an open window leaves Tommy feeling ill.

Betty talks about her trials and tribulations regarding replacing Phil and Lil in a diaper commercial, in which the twins rather ad-lib than stick with the script. Didi takes Tommy to her workplace -- the local high school, for use as a visual aid. But Tommy roams around the campus, getting admiration from a biker in the long run.
5"Beauty Contest / Baseball"15 September 1991 (1991-09-15)105
Having desire of the Kingfisher 9000 (a top of the line sports boat), Stu and Grandpa enter Tommy into a beauty contest by placing him in girls clothes and a wig, and naming him "Tonya". Their main competitor: Angelica.;Using tickets Grandpa won in a radio contest, Stu and Grandpa take Tommy to the Grizzles' baseball game, where they play the Boston Bombers. Tommy, however, was more interested in his balloon than the ballgame. Tommy's balloon hunt helped make a very spectacular catch for Grizzles' player Bucky Majors.

Being mistaken for the son of millionaire Ronald Thump, Tommy was kidnapped by some thugs, Bob and Mike, in which it was actually more trouble than it was worth.;After hearing Grandpa's mythical story about a moose, the Rugrats go look for one.

At a picnic, Spike steals Grandpa's teeth, which led to a frantic chase by Tommy and Chuckie. The war veterans are having a concert at the picnic, and Grandpa needed those teeth in order to play the trumpet properly.; Didi and Stu take Tommy to Dr. Leptomaine, a psychiatrist (who mainly says nothing more than "I see" which, at one point, angered Stu), after Tommy was found drawing on the walls. Tommy ends up wandering round the office building, ending up with Stu being psychoanalysed.
8"Real or Robots? / Special Delivery"1 December 1991 (1991-12-01)108
After seeing a Frankenstein-type horror flick, Tommy and Chuckie go see if Stu is a human or a robot. Stu, however, has a recurring sleepwalking dream, in which he's a host of a cooking show.;Stu ordered a doll from Eggbert toys, his competitor, so he can check out their doll "Tina Trousers", as a comparison to the doll he's making "Patty Pants". Tommy thinks he getting a baby in the mail, he hitches a ride with the postman to the post office.

On Halloween, the babies seek Reptar chocolate bars; after hearing a story from Tommy's Grandpa Boris, the babies search for a monster in the garage that has made a giant mess that Spike has been blamed for.

Didi takes advice from Tommy's dentist, and takes his bottle away; Tommy causes mayhem at the supermarket looking for Reptar Cereal.

Stu makes an invention to stop Tommy from bumping his head; The babies hold a mock trial to determine who broke Tommy's favorite lamp, "Mr. Fluffles".

Angelica's cat, Fluffy, destroys the Pickles' house, and Spike is blamed; The babies search for Reptar at a carnival.

Stu, Didi, Tommy and Angelica go on a road trip to the Grand Canyon; Tommy and Chuckie lose their toy, and must go into the basement to get it back.

Nickelodeon and Amazon.com have struck a deal to produce DVDs of new and old Nickelodeon shows, through the CreateSpace service. Using a concept similar to print on demand, Amazon will be making the discs, cover art, and disc art itself. The first season of Rugrats is on sale.[1]

Trivia

  • In some episodes Tommy is wearing a red shirt with overalls on instead of his usual blue shirt and diaper.
  • The title of the episode The Trial is the same as the title of a cancelled Invader Zim episode.
