Location in Tajikistan

Rumi District, formerly Kolkhozobod District or Nohiya-i Kolkhozobod (Tajik: Ноҳияи Колхозобод, Persian: ناحیۀ کالخازآباد), is a district in Khatlon province, Tajikistan, located south of the provincial capital Kurgan-Tyube (Qurghonteppa) and Vakhsh district.[1] It was renamed Rumi district on 23 June 2007 in commemoration of the 800th anniversary of the Tajik-Persian poet and philosopher Jaloliddin Rumi and plans were announced to erect a monument to Rumi in the district.[2][3]

The population in Rumi district is 152,300 (1 January 2008 estimate).[4] The district capital is Kolkhozobod (or Kolkhozabad in Russian transliteration).[1]
