Saskia is a feminine name. There are at least two different sources of the name. One was said to be of Dutch origin, where it originally meant "a Saxon woman" (alteration of "Saxia"). The other, thought to be of Slavic origin, meant "protector of mankind," this is considered to be the main meaning behind the name.
