List of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episodes

"Shattered Mirror" is the 92nd episode of the television series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, the 19th episode of the fourth season. It is one of several episodes that sees Deep Space Nine crew members visit their counterparts in the Mirror Universe.[1] Actress Felecia M. Bell returns to play Jennifer, and the plot is oriented towards the Sisko family, including Jake (Sisko's son). However, it is set in the troubled Mirror Universe of the Star Trek universe

This story continues the events of Through the Looking Glass (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), which was in Season 3 of the show. This introduces the Mirror Universe counterpart of Worf, played by Michael Dorn and other counterparts including Bashir, "Smiley" (O'Brien), Kira, and Garak. This helps resolves some of questionable interactions Sisko was forced into in the previous episode.

"Shatter Mirror" achieved a Nielsen rating of 6.5 points when it was broadcast on television in 1996.[2]

Plot

After the Mirror Universe Jennifer Sisko kidnaps Jake Sisko, Captain Benjamin Sisko must travel to the Mirror Universe to retrieve his son. While there the Mirror Miles O'Brien wishes for Sisko to help him prepare their version of the Defiant for battle against the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance in what could mean freedom for the Terrans. By this time, the Terrans had taken Terok Nor (the mirror DS9), and captured the Intendant (mirror Kira). They are preparing to defend against a recapture by the Alliance forces led by the Regent (mirror Worf). The Defiant turns the tables and forces abject retreat by the Regent. However, during the fight, mirror Kira, who was released by mirror Nog because her killings of Quark and Rom cleared the way for his ownership of the bar, kills mirror Nog and later mirror Jennifer, leaving Jake beside her body.
