Sihltal Zürich Uetliberg Bahn
The Sihltal Zürich Uetliberg Bahn – commonly abbreviated to SZU – is a railway company and network in the canton of Zürich in Switzerland.
Structure
The SZU is a small private railway, i.e. jointly owned by the city of Zürich (32,6%), by municipalities in the Sihltal and Zimmerberg region – Adliswil, Langnau am Albis, Horgen, Thalwil, Uitikon, 6,8% in all – cantonal (23,8%) and federal governments (27,8%) as an Aktiengesellschaft (AG) located in Zürich-Wiedikon. In 1973, the previous Uetlibergbahn and Sihltalbahn merged to form the Sihltal Zürich Uetliberg Bahn (SZU).
Network
The Sihltal Zürich Uetliberg Bahn AG operates the S-Bahn Zürich lines between Zürich Hauptbahnhof and Sihlwald-Sihlbrugg (S4) and to the Uetliberg mountain (S10). In all, the SOB network measures Template:Km to mi: Template:Km to mi km as part of the Sihltalbahn (inlcluding Wiedikon-Giesshübel) and Template:Km to mi of the Uetliberbahn.
The cable car Luftseilbahn Adliswil-Felsenegg (LAF for short or commonly called Felseneggbahn) is provided by the SZU, in addition to the Zimmerberg bus line (German: Zimmerbergbus) in the district of Horgen which is providing a network of Template:Km to mi including 201 stops.[1]
Established in May 1990, the Zürcher Verkehrsverbund (ZVV) first comprised of an elaborate web of railway lines amoung them the Sihltal Zürich Uetliberg Bahn.
