XIIX Canons mélodieux (Telemann)
Appearance
Georg Philipp Telemann's Six Canonical Sonatas, TWV 40:101–106 is a set of six canonical sonatas written for two recorders or two violins. These sonatas were first published in Hamburg in the year 1727. Since then, various music publishers have arranged the full set for almost every instrument. Each sonata is written as a canon at the unison, meaning the second player plays the same melody as the first but several bars later.
