Stephen Mitchell (born 1943 in Brooklyn, New York)[1] is a poet, translator, scholar, and anthologist. He is married to Byron Katie,[2] founder of The Work.
Education
Stephen Mitchell was educated at Amherst College,[3] the University of Paris,[3] and Yale University.[3]
Career
Mitchell’s many translations include the bestselling Tao Te Ching,[4] Gilgamesh,[5] The Iliad,[6][7][8][9] The Odyssey,[10] The Gospel According to Jesus, Bhagavad Gita,[11] The Book of Job,[12] The Second Book of the Tao, and The Selected Poetry of Rainer Maria Rilke. He was introduced to his wife in 2000,[13] and is coauthor of two of her bestselling books: Loving What Is and A Thousand Names for Joy.
