Stuart Ford is the US based Founder and Chief Executive Officer of IM Global, one of Hollywood's leading independent film, television and music companies. IM Global is a significant player in the world of mainstream Hollywood production and financing as well as being a major international distributor of genre, art house, urban, Chinese language, Latino and Bollywood cinema.

Early career

Born in the UK, Ford was educated at the Liverpool Blue Coat School, and later obtained both a BA and an MA in Law from St. Edmund Hall, Oxford University. He began his career in the early 1990s as an entertainment attorney in London before moving to New York in 1997 to join Harvey and Bob Weinstein's Miramax Films. In seven years at Miramax Ford filled a variety of senior roles including as EVP and Co-Head of the company's Acquisitions division and as President of Miramax International the mini-major's powerful international distribution and sales operation. During this period The Hollywood Reporter listed Ford as one of the top executives in Hollywood under the age of 35.

IM Global

IM Global was launched by founder and CEO, Stuart Ford in April 2007, originally in partnership with German public company Internationalmedia AG, with the intention of building a true globally minded entertainment company at the heart of digital distribution evolution and with a business strategy that married traditional Hollywood financial and creative strengths with an innovative emerging markets focus. Since April 2010 the company's two shareholders have been Reliance Entertainment, a subsidiary of Indian billionaire Anil Ambani's Reliance ADA group and Ford himself.[1][2]

Other activities

Ford is a regular speaker, panelist and broadcaster around the globe on the subjects of film distribution and financing, the evolution of digital technologies within the entertainment sector and on the continuing cultural and technological issues influencing the global film industry. In late 2010 the UK's Guardian newspaper listed Ford as one of the 50 most influential individuals in global cinema.[3] Stuart Ford's IM Global was the 2015 recipient of the Variety Award for Achievement in International Film.[4] As an individual Ford has produced or executive produced more than 25 Hollywood features.[5]
