Taldykorgan (Template:Lang-kz, تالدىقورعان), formerly known as Taldy-Kurgan (Template:Lang-ru, Taldy-Kurgan) until 1993, is the administrative center of Almaty Region, Kazakhstan. Population: 123,038 (2009 Census results);[1] 97,996 (1999 Census results).[1] Most of the people are Kazakhs.
Education
Taldykorgan has a diverse educational system, including a university, institutes, institutions, technical training colleges, secondary schools and kindergartens. There are 27 public health facilities, a theater, amusement parks, libraries, a city cinema, stadium, sports complex and swimming pools. All of the facilities have not been maintained since the USSR era.[2]

The ethnic composition of Taldykorgan according to a 2010 census was thus:[3][4]

Transport
Taldykorgan Airport services a number Kazakh and Russian cities, while its train station services from 30 km from Taldykorgan Central Kazakhstan, Central Asia, Russia, Baltic States and the People's Republic of China.
Sport
The city has a football club, FC Zhetysu Taldykorgan.[5][6]
