Concerning the IUPAC name of alpha-tocopherol

The formulae of tocopherol is correctly given as C 29 H 50 O 2 but the name is given as (2R)-2,5,7,8-Tetramethyl-2-[(5R,9R)-(5,9,13-trimethyltetradecyl)]-6-chromanol. This makes the side chain C 17 H 35 but it should be C 16 H 33 because the formula would then be C 30 H 52 O 2. This name disagrees with the structural formula which is correctly "trimethyltridecyl" instead.

The correct name should be (2R)-2,5,7,8-Tetramethyl-2-[(4'R,8'R)-(4',8',12'-trimethyltridecyl)]-6-chromanol. then the carbons are tetramethyl=4 + trimethyl=3 + tridecyl=13 + chroman=9 -> total = 29. It is common in carotenoids to label the side chain with apostrophe's to clearly differentiate the side chain from the rings.
