Opening Comments

[edit]

"and punk music was enjoyed. It is where Vicious recieved the nickname Vicious when he beat Nick Kent, a jouralist who didn't like the Sex Pistols, to a bloody pulp with a chain and so Johnny Rotten christened him "Vicious" there at the festival."

Historically inaccurate & POV article that needs a major rewrite/expansion.

THIS FESTIVAL OCCURED ON THE 20TH AND THE 21ST, NOT 21ST AND THE 22ND. I HAVE CORRECTED THIS.

Does anybody agree with that statement? It's a long time ago now but I was at the first night and I'm pretty sure it wasn't a Sunday. Also, the details of the glass-smashing incident, particularly the degree of injury involved, were obscure at the time, and as far as the Vicious / Kent fracas is concerned, as far as I know the only primary source for this story is Kent himself. Finally, can anybody confirm the running order for the first night? As I say, it's a long time ago but my recollection has always been that Siouxsie was up first, then the Subway Sect. The first night was on a Monday. I was there and I'd come straight from school. MY memory suggests that Subway Sect were on first and Siouxie on next. (But I could be, er, wrong...)81.141.82.218 (talk) 21:23, 21 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I was standing next to Nick Kent when it happened. It was over in a couple of seconds. I was too busy ogling Chrissie Hynde to really see what occurred. But kent certainly wasn't "beaten to a pulp". (Big Ted)

Cleanup

[edit]

I'm cleaning up this article. If you see it looking all crazy, give me a day or two. I'm gonna use this talk page as a source dump for the time being.
