This article could be improved by an explanation of the reasons for withdrawing from the FA Cup, and an explanation of the abandoned matches referred to (if they were abandoned, surely they never took place, officially). Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 07:22, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

True, but it's data from 1895. I'm hoping to buy some books when I actually get some cash which might let me find this stuff out, but my source has no information on why the matches were abandoned or City withdrew from the FA Cup. I can't add any more information. I don't know any more information.

Viz your comments about the abandoned matches not existing officially, you're right, but I'm just exercising my remit to include all information about City's season. With retrospect I should probably move them to a separate "Abandoned" section but the point is I think they have every right to be there. If a Champions League final was abandoned and replayed you can be sure it would be left on Wikipedia rather than all knowledge of them being disavowed - the same would surely happen if only say a League One team had to abandon a match. I think the article is clear enough that the match didn't contribute to the end-of-year league table, and I'll alter the goal tables so that abandoned match goals aren't counted in the final total (I couldn't decide how to handle it before, can't believe I didn't really think of this idea) but I still don't think I should remove all information about them given that I can't elaborate.
