Magnitude, depth etc.

[edit]

I've removed the reference to Middleton and Thomas for the magnitude as there is consistency amongst the international earthquake catalogues and published papers that the magnitude was significantly greater, in the range 7.4 to 7.6. They are not describing a foreshock as the timing matches exactly with that for the local time in ref#2. I've also changed the depth to 26 km to match the NGDC catalogue, although I doubt that it is known with any great precision. Also the reference to the two seismographs stations has gone because it was also recorded by one in West Bromwich according to ref#2 and I expect many others. I'm not sure about adding more details about the dam and lake - better in the relevant articles in my opinion, but I wouldn't object to them being added back. The Magnitude 6 earthquake at Khorog is unlikely to be an aftershock as it is located well outside the epicentral area. Mikenorton (talk) 17:52, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
