Margin
[edit]I can't find any margin of victory in any of the contemporary newspapers. According to this post https://www.moadoph.gov.au/blog/leadership-spills-nothing-new-to-history/, Charlton won by 22 votes to 2. However, that margin seems suspiciously large. I'm not even sure Labor had 24 MPs at the time, as Members of the Australian House of Representatives, 1919–1922 seems to suggest there were only 19 MHRs plus the one senator (Gardiner). The source also says that it was "The first recorded contested ballot in the Labor caucus", but this not correct as there were at least two earlier contested elections (1907 and 1913).
