Tied points
[edit]There was no points tie because of 'drop your worst' round pointscore system. --Falcadore (talk) 06:19, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
Did the "Best six results" rule really change the championship outcome?
[edit]I'm not sure that the "best six" rule actually changed the outcome of the championship. Had that rule not been in place and both drivers had remained on 55, Brock would have won on a countback, three wins to one. Hence Brock would have been champion with or without the "best six" rule. Does "Australian Touring Car Championship - 25 fabulous years" actually state that the rule changed the outcome? GTHO (talk) 08:06, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
- The line says "had an effect", not changed the outcome. Do we know what method of tie-break was in effect at the time? There is more than one. --Falcadore (talk) 06:53, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
- In relation to both drivers finishing on 53 points, it is stated on page 11 of the Official Programme for the final round at AIR that "Brock would win on a count back as he scored three wins in the series to Morris' one." GTHO (talk) 22:37, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
- So? It had an effect as two drivers scored the same number of points. Countback would only have applied if Morris has remained on 55 points, but he did not so no countback was required. The two were separated by the best six, not by a hypothetical countback which never actually occurred. --Falcadore (talk) 07:13, 14 May 2013 (UTC)
- "Effect" clarified in intro. GTHO (talk) 07:43, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
