Young rider classification[edit]

What was the rule in 1978 to be in the young rider classification? My sources say that it was for cyclists younger than 26 at 1 January. Except for 1983-1986, when it was for first-timers. Hinault was younger than Lubberding, and it was his first time in the Tour de France, so according to both rules, he should have won the white jersey. Why didn't he? (I am curious to know, but the information is also valuable to the white jersey article.) --EdgeNavidad (talk) 10:38, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Answer: In 1978, a cyclist should be not older than 23 years, or be in his first or second professional year. Lubberding was in his second year, and Hinault already in his third year. (Dutch source).--EdgeNavidad (talk) 14:26, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dead link[edit]

During several automated bot runs the following external link was found to be unavailable. Please check if the link is in fact down and fix or remove it in that case!
