Splitting proposal

[edit]

I propose that section August coup can be split into a separate page called 1983 Upper Voltan coup d'état. The successful coup on August 1983 is arguably more notable than the February 1983 coup attempt, and I believe it can be easily split into its own separate page. It can and it should. Charles Essie (talk) 04:25, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Agree, this is definitely significant enough to be split. The split articles may need to be renamed February 1983 Upper Voltan coup d'état attempt and August 1983 Upper Voltan coup d'état to better distinguish between the two events, but that's a conversation for a later date.--Grnrchst (talk) 13:40, 7 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see what's wrong with the current titles. I think "coup d'état" and "coup d'état attempt" are enough to distinguish them. Charles Essie (talk) 18:59, 16 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with the split, the August events got much more attention anyway. Sometimes they are sentimentally referred to as the "Burkinabé revolution", so we should bear that in mind when creating another article. -Indy beetle (talk) 06:52, 29 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@KingSkyLord Agree and don't know why this hadn't been done earlier. I restored your original article at 1983 Upper Voltan coup d'état. · • SUM1 • · (talk) 12:23, 9 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
