Possible contradiction with Cork taint page

[edit]

Regarding: "The odor of TCA is not directly perceived. Instead, the molecule distorts the perception of smell by suppressing olfactory signal transduction."

The reference for this makes it clear that TCA does interfere with other transduction, but it is not clear to me whether TCA activate any receptors itself. The fact that humans can smell it (presumably alone), discussed on the Cork taint page, might seem to contradict the claim that TCA is not ALSO directly perceived. However, with a brief search I could not find a reference showing any olfactory receptors activated by TCA alone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tom-oconnell (talkcontribs) 23:09, 29 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
