Possible contradiction in sources[edit]

@AustralianRupert: - good work starting articles on the Pioneer and MG bns, I'd been meaning to do this myself for a while. Kuring actually doesn't have much to add from what you have already written using other sources I'm afraid. However, I did notice a possible contradiction b/n Kuring and the source used here though in that Kuring p. 90 states that the 2nd Pioneer Battalion was mainly raised from Victorian recruits, while it seems the source used here currently says they were mostly Western Australians. I wonder if anything in Bean might help clear this up? All the best. Anotherclown (talk) 02:57, 1 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

G'day, thanks for this. I've had a look through Bean, and he doesn't seem to list the state with the unit. Usually he does for the Infantry units, but it doesn't seem he does for the Pioneers, unfortunately. However, looking at the 300 + names on the Roll of Honour on the AWM site ([0=people&submit=&filter[roll_type]=Roll+of+Honour&filter[related_units]=2nd+Australian+Pioneer+Battalion]) the majority appear to be from Victoria, so I would say Kuring might be correct.
