I removed the following from the DIRCM page, since these systems are not DIRCM systems.
AAQ-144A(V)1
[edit]The ALQ-144 is a DIRCM that actively radiates IR pulses in a 360° direction. The countermeasure transmitter is mounted on most US military H-60 helicopters. On US Navy HH-60H, MH-60S and MH-60R helicopters it is used in conjunction with the Aircraft Survivability Equipment (ASE) package of sensors and countermeasures. This system consists of the APR-39(V)2 radar detector, AVR-2 laser detector, AAR-47 missile launch warning detector and the ALE-47 chaff/flare dispenser. This system is the main countermeasure for IR threats on the AC-130 Gunships.
ALQ-157A(V)1
[edit]This is the next generation of infrared countermeasures which will be produced by BAE Systems for US Navy and US Marine Corps helicopters. The ALQ-157 will be a tactical directable system, meaning that a processor and motor will direct the IR countermeasure towards the source of threat instead of radiating in a 360° direction as is standard now with the ALQ-144.
The system will be utilized on Navy helicopters with the next generation ASE system combining the AVR-2 laser detector and AAR-47 missile launch warning sensor into a single packaged sensor.
Rename to AN/ALQ-144
[edit]Can we rename this article to AN/ALQ-144 per the trend for articles under the JETDS system? It seems to be an outlier. 70.251.32.227 (talk) 03:25, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
