1. I've restored this poem, erroneously deleted in May, but cannot persuade the software to accept my categorisations, which do already exist, viz:

William Blake
Poetry by William Blake
1794 poems

2. I can see that acquiring the skills necessary to conform to wiki typography will be a long slog: my gratitude in advance to those who might sort it out, and also to anyone who might direct me to the most relevant pages of elementary wiki guidelines so I can conform to the essential rules of layout.

I see that this page has been tagged again.

You'll find reference to one source at the bottom: a standard collection of Blake's poetry.

Doubters may wish to refer to the facsimiles of Blake's own plates of Songs of Experience, which can be found on several sites.

Please do not try to delete this poem - doing so would only help the forces of ignorance. It is a work of Blake's and should be in this encyclopaedia. I offer no critical evaluation of its worth.

I recognise that my programming skills are not yet up to speed, but such a defect does not in itself negate the validity of this contribution to world knowledge.

I've added two links. Please follow them if you still harbour doubts, then un-tag this page.

Hello, you may find the cheatsheet useful for basic formatting, and also the guide to referencing should be handy. Hope this helps KZF 14:20, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A Little GIRL Lost

[edit]

Hey guys, Shouldn't the title be capitalized the way Blake capitalizes it? The capitalization an intentional decision Blake made plus it might help to prevent confusion between this poem and The Little Girl Lost.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Redblue45 (talkcontribs) 19:53, October 31, 2021 (UTC)

Hm, tricky question. I would prefer not to capitalize it, because that's how this poem is cited in secondary sources. Some related conventions in Wikipedia are as follows. MOS:CONFORM says all caps should be normalized to plain text although this section refers to quoations, not to titles of works. MOS:CONFORMTITLE says titles of work should be "normalized". And MOS:MUSICCAPS says for song titles, refering to the Wikipedia conventions for capital letters, exceptions are not made to mimic stylization. --Cyfal (talk) 15:46, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
