Hello, I am planning on reviewing this article for GA Status, over the next couple of days. Thank you for nominating the article for GA status. I hope I will learn some new information, and that my feedback is helpful.
If nominators or editors could refrain from updating the particular section that I am updating until it is complete, I would appreciate it to remove a edit conflict. Please address concerns in the section that has been completed above (If I've raised concerns up to references, feel free to comment on things like the lede.)
I generally provide an overview of things I read through the article on a first glance. Then do a thorough sweep of the article after the feedback is addressed. After this, I will present the pass/failure. I may use strikethrough tags when concerns are met. Even if something is obvious why my concern is met, please leave a message as courtesy.
Best of luck! you can also use the {{done}} tag to state when something is addressed. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs)
Please let me know after the review is done, if you were happy with the review! Obviously this is regarding the article's quality, however, I want to be happy and civil to all, so let me know if I have done a good job, regardless of the article's outcome.

[edit]Lede
[edit]- socioeconomic - maybe needs a link. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:48, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- I disagree since socioeconomics is a relatively common term, though if you insist I can link it. GeraldWL 12:31, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- I don't think we need to link Taiwan. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:48, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Done -- not sure I was the one who added it... probably leftover from the GOCE.
- He was also the film's cinematographer under the pseudonym of Nagao Nakashima, using a variety of techniques to depict its ambivalent tone - this sentence is a bit choppy. I'd suggest splitting it into two. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:48, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- I've deleted the latter part; might make a new sentence out of it later if I can figure a way out.
- eleased on Netflix in 2020; it did not receive significant attention - "not recieving". Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:48, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Done -- with some tweaks.
General
[edit]- I don't usually review plots, but
That night, Hao commits suicide by jumping from the apartment balcony.
is very much out of the blue. I don't really understand why he did it. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:51, 17 October 2022 (UTC)- Tweaked a bit, maybe right now it's more understandable?
- The cast list is completly unsourced. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 11:25, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- I would argue that the primary source is the film itself, where all the characters' backgrounds are detailed.
- The film's sentimentality is equated with substance intoxication; with time, sentiment will turn from ecstasy to illusion. - I don't really understand why Wikipedia is saying this, or what it means. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 11:25, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Done -- removed it, I must've been high on pot writing that sentence....
- Investors included Chung's 3 NG Film (also its production company), MandarinVision, Eight Eight Nine Films, MirrorFiction and UNI Connect Broadcast Production - can we directly cite this bit? Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 11:25, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Ref 8 is the citation; I placed it at the succeeding sentence so that refs cites it all at once.
- Ah-Ho rides his mother on a bicycle - if that is the translation, it's a bad one. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 11:25, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's most likely GOCE leftover again..... reworded. I choked a bit.
- blue represents sorrow, and the yellow sunlight represents warmth.[according to whom?] - I feel like this happens a lot in the article, we are having Wikipedia's voice and the director being the same. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 11:25, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Done -- I've added attribution.
- represents sorrow and apathy, and yellow represents warmth. - representing. It's a small change but one that goes from the colours being chosen to represent these things to this being fact. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 11:34, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Made that a new sentence, so "represents" would be grammatically correct. Plus the new attribution should establish the choice as preference.
- Can we cite the track listing? Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 11:34, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Done
- ,[45][48][46][49] Ang Lee - WP:CITEKILL Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 11:34, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Removed one of the cites. GeraldWL 12:53, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Ok, looks good Gerald Waldo Luis. I'm happy with the changes. I'll promote now. If you get bored and want to review something, I have a few items at GAN. Otherwise, great work. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 17:30, 18 October 2022 (UTC)
Review meta comments
[edit]- I'll begin the review as soon as I can! If you fancy returning the favour, I have a list of nominations for review at WP:GAN and WP:FAC, respectively. I'd be very grateful if you were to complete one of these if you get time. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 21:17, 16 October 2022 (UTC)
