Adel & Rose
[edit]Has anyone else noticed how Rose comments for Adel are a bit... well... intimate? Her speech pattern (in the Japanese version) strongly remind me of the sisters from Sister Princess. Also in the artwork that features the two, she tends to hold her brother's arm in the manner that is typically "romantic" in Japanese culture. I would like to argue that she has a "brother complex" for Adel - although Adel either doesn't mind or notice it. Nargrakhan 12:36, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- Intimate? You're digging in too deep about it, my friend. It's called "brotherly love". Let's just say she's very secure with him around, and she also believes that no one is stronger than her big brother. In other words, she "worships" him.
- Hmmm... Well the Japanese can define brotherly/sisterly love differently that Western countries. Series such as Sister Princess and Da Capo (indeed many dating games) are massive popular in Japan due to the story having siblings "too close" in a relationship. It's a weird "moe" taboo thing - and doesn't only apply to "fanboys" either: Boku wa Imōto ni Koi o Suru is a story that has incest twins and has a large woman fanbase. I've seen production sketch art of Rose saying, "Daisuki Oniichan" with Adel... it was in one of the official Japanese strategy guides. I'll see if I can find the ISBN. While that quote only means "I love you brother," it's an obvious nod to Sister Princess and more intimate a term for "normal" love between siblings. While this on it's own doesn't mean Rose has incest intentions towards her brother, it also doesn't make it impossible. For Japanese anime/manga/games, it's not uncommon... - Wait for KOF XII before jumping into conclusions. And don't put that into the article without solid proof. That so-called sketch is not solid enough, we need comments from Adel's creator himself. This is an on-line encyclopedia, not a tabloid.
- Ah, located it. The illustration is in: Enterbrain Mook, ARCADIA Extra vol.14, The King of Fighters 2003 Flame of Nova. This is the officially sanctioned guide book, which features development articles, production artwork, and in depth review of the game mechanics. I had no intention of putting it into the main article without heavy discussion. However, I wish to point out that Rose's disposition and speech pattern towards Adel, as well as no less than three production sketches from two official guidebooks (which are in of themselves "comments" from the creator), show heavy innuendo that Rose has a "brother complex". Furthermore, this type of behavior is common and popular in Japanese entertainment media in fictional characters: and several of the KOF cast are "popular stereotypes" of various anime/manga/game characters. The next KOF will no doubt - if it features Adel and Rose - bring greater light on the subject, and I gladly await to see how the entire situation is handled (not to mention kick some people's butt in-game). However, I disagree with the tabloid comment, as I find my judgment sound and sourced, not "made up" as tabloids often do (i.e. Bigfoot Alien Baby Found). I know you had no ill intent with the comment... but "tabloid" can be seen as an offensive word to writers. Nargrakhan 12:36, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Um... what was the point of this conversation? It seems kinda like foruming... or was there at one point a piece of trivia on this page that covered Rose's "closeness" to Adel? Vilerocks 04:56, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Who ever wrote that Adel never knew Rugal? Read here! http://cyberfanatix.com/page.php?id=329 . Adel said "I have no memory of my father ever teaching me anything. And no matter how hard I try, I don't remember ever having anything like that fishing rod, either".
