"Adra is at the junction of railroads leading to important Indian cities (including Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata)." This statement is incorrect. As can be seen from IRCTC.co.in (search for trains between Adra and any metro), the only trains are slow passenger trains with connectivity to Calcutta. Adra is a goods hub but has bad connectivity for passenger traffic. The closest station on the main line is Tatanagar.

Nearest big city of Adra is Asansol Jn. It is 1 hour journey where you can take trains for many destination.Raghunathpur is the nearest popular town near Adra from where you can have a good bus connectivity for many places like Purulia,Asansol,Bankura.

The people of adra are very found of sweets.There are lot of good sweets shop are available at a cheaper rate with delicious sweets.Sohan sweets is one of the finest sweets shop that adra accomodate.Apart from this shop there are plenty of shop available. This is mainly a railway based area.
