That Pesky Year 0

[edit]

Despite what may be written in the unofficial Greychrondex, I believe you must subtract 1 from any pre-1 CY date, since there was no "year zero." If this is correct, the date of the Battle of a Fortnight's Length should be returned to -109 CY. Thoughts?--Iquander 00:13, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I think they way that works is you subtract one when calculating the number of years passed, not the date itself. IE, from -100 CY to 100 CY = 199 years, not 200. For 200 years, it'd have to be either -101 to 100, or -100 to 101. Now, if we're calculating a date, we'd have to add one, thus 600 years ago from 596 would be -5, not -4. Of course, I'm no math wizard, but I'm sure we could find one to set us straight.-Robbstrd 03:29, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
