Fatality total

[edit]

I removed the copy edit tag because I think the grammar and structure is greatly improved, although not perfect. However, I notice the article says "156 passengers and 10 crew members" were on board, but there were no survivors and 162 fatalities plus 1 fatality from the ground. Those numbers don't add up, but I couldn't figure out the correct figures from the references. Tripnoted (talk) 15:12, 25 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Flight number 4225 or 4227?

[edit]

The article is entitled "Aeroflot Flight 4227," but the references do not mention "Flight 4227." The Aviation Safety Network Accident Description cited in the article says that the flight number was 4225. Should this article be moved to a new title "Aeroflot Flight 4225"? Russia

[edit]

Some putinphile asshole went out of his way to write "Soviet Ukraine" and "Soviet Kazakhstan" over and over in this article rather than "Ukrainian SSR" or just "Ukraine", etc, but didn't notice that the Soviet plane was listed as "Russian" (not even "Soviet Russian."). Fixed.

"Accident" section doesn't make sense

[edit]

Hot air doesn't cause *downdrafts* in the absence of storms, so the explanation about the "zone of hot air" and "downdraft" doesn't make sense and the cited sources are both in Russian. I suspect it's just a matter of grammar but I'm not sure how to change it because I can't translate the sources. Can anyone else take a look? The most likely interpretation is that it was wind shear that put the plane's air speed below stall speed for its high takeoff weight in the hot conditions, but I don't want to change the page without knowing what those sources really say in Russian.
