Inaccurate statement in the opening

[edit]

While I am sure it is made in good faith, the claim Agnes Marshall Cowan "was the first Scottish female to be granted a professorship" is not true. This error possibly lies in the original source, but as I have noted at Talk:Margaret Fairlie, Aberdeen-born Doris Mackinnon (who incidentally was a staff member at University College, Dundee when Margaret Fairlie was a student there) was appointed a Professor at King's College London in 1927.[1] There is also the case of Dr Ruth Young from Dundee who in 1917 held the title of "Professor of Surgery at Lady Hardinge Medical College in Delhi".[2] I would therefore propose that although citing a reliable source the claim should be removed.
