Soundtrack album vs. soundtrack EP

[edit]

@Doomsdayer520 In the revert note you mentioned "there is a proper solution for what you are trying to do"... can you clarify what that is, if not using the "other" option for the infobox "type" parameter? Because using the "soundtrack" type misclassifies the release as an album... a 3-song EP is not an album.

Is this just because if someone uses the "other" option on the "type" parameter it shows up in some maintenance category? What's the purpose of the "other" option if not for this? RachelTensions (talk) 22:30, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The solution is not perfect, but if two things need to be said to categorize the item then the best solution is to use the "Longtype" field as seen at Template:Infobox album. Those infobox fields are used for categories and reports elsewhere in Wikipedia, and it can be awkward but everything can be fully explained in the main text. Personally, I don't even think it's necessary to have "EP" in the infobox because its really a soundtrack but just a short one, but a compromise is possible. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 13:30, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
