Locked up
[edit]I find the choice of "locked up" to describe Marwan's custody a very poor choice of language. I think "locked up" it is crude, and is POV from both extremes. On one side: as if poor Marwan was not responsible for the Al-Aqsa Brigades, for example. Or on the other side: "He's finally been locked up. Good." Will you find "locked up" in, say, Brittannica? JFW | T@lk 22:03, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
- Err.. yes.. 37 times apparently. --Irishpunktom\talk 22:18, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
- I agree that locked up is POV, but in custody seems to imply that he's been jailed extrajudiciously, or is awaiting trial. Ideally, we should get the the name of the prison he's in and say something like "currently jailed in Israel's X prison," or currently incarcerated in an Israeli jail. It's tricky to be NPOV without going into too much detail. Dsol 22:05, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
Locked up is perfectly fine, there is no POV problems with it. Perhaps it is crude, but the replacements haven't been much better. How about "Marwan Barghouti leads the new party from within his Israeli Prison Cell" --Irishpunktom\talk 22:18, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
- I changed it to "presently jailed." feel free to change it to something else if you don't like this. Dsol 22:20, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
- I like Tom's proposed new version. JFW | T@lk 08:38, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
