Purple Noon

FWIW, IMDB lists Purple Noon as 1960. Not sure if anyone knows differently.

Fair use rationale for Image:The-Queen-is-Dead-cover.png

Image:The-Queen-is-Dead-cover.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 06:15, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Georgian article

Added a WikiProject Echo box: this article is featured on the Georgian Wikipedia. The information from it may or may not be usefull, but the article has some great pictures. Maybe we can use one? - Face 19:20, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

The image Image:LeSamourai.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

In Soviet Union...

He was insanely popular in USSR... just wanted to say this.... there was even a very popular song by an soviet rock band about him "alain delon doesnt drink cologne; alain delon speaks french..." (in refference to a common occurance in russia of drinking cheap cologne, solvants, etc. when no alcohol was available) --KpoT (talk) 13:17, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

Well yes, he was popular in Europe. In countries of former Yugoslavia, there's a saying (still in use) for handsome people "Lep ko Delon" which translates to "Handsome like Delon"--90.157.251.7 (talk) 18:13, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

A portrait picture

Alain Delon is shown as of 2011 which is quite a different look form what he looked like when most of his films were shot. Anybody new/unfamiliar with an actor will probably not be able to get the idea of actor's "classic" appearance and might even not recognize him in most films. Therefore the suggestion is to replace a picture - there are so many absolutely great b/w portraits of this actor when he was most popular. I would do it but I'm not sure how to deal with rights issues.. If not the main picture then to display "classic" actor's picture in some section below.

I agree, the main picture should be a photo of him at the top of his career. For example, Lauren Bacall is also still alive, but a photo of her at the top of her career is shown as the main picture. J187B (talk) 03:20, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

Eretz Nehederet

The Israeli satire show Eretz Nehederet introduced a running gag in the current season of an annoying, somewhat condescending fat man, screaming a few catchphrases at the television, among them, ‘Why, who da hell is he, Alain Delon?!’ The comic element is amplified by the fact that Delon is virtually unknown among Israelis, or at least was until this meme was created. Political views

Aren't they somewhat controversial? Yet they aren't even mentioned in the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.161.159.246 (talk) 23:55, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Likewise the Stevan Markovic murder isn't mentioned either. Here follows an extract from Ephraim Katz's authoratitive "Film Encyclopedia" 1994 (New Edition)

"Late in 1968, Delon and his then-wife (1964-69), actress Natalie Delon (b.Francine Canovas, 1938), were the central figures in a major murder, drug, and sex scandal that rocked the French capital, following the discovery of the body of Delon's bodyguard in a garbage dump. Many prominent politicians and show business personalities were involved, and the affair was promptly hushed up. Although cleared of criminal suspicion, Delon admitted to the intimate association with underworld characters which dated back to his premovie years."

Katz continues by suggesting the affair actually helped Delon's on-screen "toughie" image. This is not idle redundant gossip, it is a recorded fact which had a significant effect on Delon's career and as such its omission looks like censorship. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.148.35.91 (talk) 13:02, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

Delon has now given an interview to a Swiss newspaper explicitly supporting the Front National.[1] RolandR (talk) 16:40, 10 October 2013 (UTC)

The Stevan Markovic murder is a significant and noteworthy event in Delon's history, and certainly backed up with good reference. The omission of this event is not encyclopedic. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.148.46.74 (talk) 17:42, 14 January 2014 (UTC)

Beginning of Article Needs Serious Proper Formatting.

Beginning of Article is as follows:

"{{Infobox person | name = Alain Delon | image = Alain Delon Cannes 2013.jpg | caption = Delon at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. | alt = | birth_name = Alain Fabien Maurice Marcel Delon | birth_date = 8 November 1935 (age 79) | birth_place = Sceaux, France | citizenship = French, Swiss (since 1999) | occupation = Actor | spouse = [[Jill Delon] (m. 1964) | partner = Dalida (1963–64) | children = Romy Cécile Delon, born on 10 November 1964 (age 50) Christophe Jean-Claude Delon, born on 8 June 1966 (age 48) Giorgia Francsca Delon & Luchino Giuseppe Delon, born on 14 July 1967 (age 47) Alain Delon, Jr., born on 18 March 1994 (age 21) | website = alaindelon.ch | yearsactive = 1957-2012}}"

Clearly the formatting did not take. Needs to be re-done. Also, there's no main picture of Delon. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wiseguy007 (talkcontribs) 00:32, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

Death

Did he actually die or was everything just a hoax? --104.163.139.131 (talk) 16:04, 19 May 2022 (UTC)

No, he's currently still alive. Check your facts. TheeChEese (talk) 02:03, 19 December 2022 (UTC)
