Iranian descent
[edit]Does anyone know if he has an actual Iranian background? I would assume so, but can anyone confirm?Asdf169 (talk) 18:34, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
Yes, Ali was born in Iran of Iranian parents and came into exile in Britain after the fall of the Shah when he was in his early teens. On one side of his family he is descended from ethnic Persians from Daghestan who fled to Iran after the Soviet revolution. He still has family in Iran whom he regularly visits. He considers himself a Shiite.

Incorrect school
[edit]Was talking to the Professor yesterday (during course of my work as Sara Thomas (WMUK)) and he mentioned that the school listed here (Col.Brown Cambridge School Dehara Dun) is incorrect. It seems to have been added by an anonymous user on 9 March 2015 (see this diff) and is unreferenced. I've found a reference to him attending school at Royal Russell here and being head of house here. I've fixed a dead link on this page but would rather not directly edit the school detail for COI reasons (just erring on side of caution), would someone else like to do it?
