- Hi User:North8000, I came here via the Earth System Governance Project which is linked from here. I am curious what you think of this article and the process. My question is: this article has way too much content in the "career" section, and in general loads of statements that are not sourced. I would recommended deleting all the non-sourced content.
- Also another question to you and the page creator User:Abubakar Tanimu Salisu. Given the similarities in name (coincidence?), I would like to know more about the potential WP:COI and how it's handled. On their user page they have a box to say "declared COI" but aren't they meant to provide more details? What does the COI exist of and how is it managed? I am not trying to be mean, just getting my head around for how I would do it correctly and in a bullet-proof way if I was setting up a BLP and I had a professional connection to that person (Frank Biermann in my case). - @EMsmile: To fully answer your good questions would take me a book rather than a post. So I'll just make a few notes and and offer to help on anything specific. My NPP review was imited to "should a separate article on the topic exist?" vs. taking it to AFD if I think not. Regarding the article, my biggest thought is that it reads like a resume rather than an enclyclopedia article. The best solution would be to find and include some sources that cover him in depth and develop substantial content from those. Regarding wp:COI, that's the part that would take a book and I've written much on it, and think that policy is to ham-handed on this. Regarding Frank Biermann, my advice/opinion (with you being an experienced editor) is to approach it with ONLY your Wikipedia editor hat on and to do everything accordingly, starting with deciding if a separate article on him should exist. And if so, start developing the article. I'm happy to further advise or help make things official if you wish; if so please ping me. North8000 (talk) 12:38, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply. I'll reach out to you separately by pinging you about my questions on the Frank Biermann article. But regarding this article, did the Wikipedian User:Abubakar Tanimu Salisu apply the guidelines correctly regarding COI? That is, is it enough to put that COI box on one's user page? I thought one would have to explain what exactly the COI is and how it's managed. I've read through some of the guidelines regarding BLPs and autobiographies but am still a bit confused on how to do it correctly. It seems to me that the approach by User:Abubakar Tanimu Salisu was not correct though. Am I wrong? EMsmile (talk) 13:06, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
