Boundary of Aljunied
[edit]Aljunied is bounded by PIE in the north, and Paya Lebar Rd in the East. What should be the boundary in the South:
- Sims Ave,
- Geylang Rd,
- Guillemard Rd, or
- Kallang basin river?
--Vsion 05:43, 18 August 2005 (UTC)
- Aljunied got boundary one meh? :D--Huaiwei 05:49, 18 August 2005 (UTC)
- What about unofficial demarcation? The residents probably would not like to include the area below Sims Ave to be consider as Aljunied, ;-) . That area however was included in the Aljunied URA planning subzone (1996) --Vsion 06:40, 18 August 2005 (UTC)
- Haha...hmm...I would think for general placenames like this one (and also for Ang Mo Kio), it may be better to use a general indicator rather than one with a specific boundary, since their usage has been historically fluid? How about a red circle with a solid centre and which fades out gradually towards the edge? Sounds like chocolates. :D --Huaiwei 06:50, 18 August 2005 (UTC)

- Yes, you mentioned this before. How about something like the left image below, as compared to the right image (based on planning area)?
The placement of the circle is arbitrary though, especially for fairly large regions that come in different shapes. --Vsion 08:53, 18 August 2005 (UTC)
- Oooo yes! Thats satisfactory. Dont worry too much over the placement, because it may be sufficient to simply have a bigger circle should the name cover a larger area...say Changi. The idea is for it to be a rough guide only. ;) Anyhow, thanks again for the marvellous creations. :D --Huaiwei 09:32, 18 August 2005 (UTC)
- The dot-type locator map is easy to create and others can do it also. I will continue to focus on creating those boundary-type maps for regions where the boundary is known, because in doing so I'm also plotting out the major roads. I will leave it to the articles' contributors to decide which type of locator map they want to use. --Vsion 05:13, 19 August 2005 (UTC)
- Hmmm...come to think of it, would you like to share with us your template so that we can assist you in the simpler tasts? ;)--Huaiwei 04:56, 20 August 2005 (UTC)
- What I have is a large copyrighted reference map, from which I trace out the various boundaries. With the data that I now have (mainly: expressways and MRT lines), I can produce a free-license high-res. base map. Currently some inland features (reservoir and rivers, etc.) are not accurate, so let me touch up abit before sharing it out. This however will not include the regions boundary just yet, because the available URA planning map is not accurate enough, so I'm drawing out the regions incrementally as you can see. By the time I finished, hopefully ;-), we will have a base map with most of the major regions, and it will be helpful for anyone who want to make derivative maps. --Vsion 08:26, 20 August 2005 (UTC)he also farted!!!
