Mr. Bean
One or more Mr. Bean sketches were filmed at Allders. Any idea which branch? ProhibitOnions (T) 09:30, 13 October 2012 (UTC)
Yes! I can actually confirm that the Mr. Bean sketche was filmed at the former Allders Department Store on 71 High Street, Sutton, that closed down back in 1991, and later was redeveloped into a Woolworths store from 1994 until 2008, and is now Waterstones at this present.
That was Sutton's previous Allders Department Store, before they moved into St Nicholas Shopping Centre Sutton, which is now Debenhams at this present, since the store closed back in 2005.
website
Over the past few months, an IP (in fact several different IPs) have repeatedly added a website to this page, and I have repeatedly removed it. Allders – the subject of this page – ceased trading in January 2013. It no longer exists. It cannot have a website. The url in question leads to a placeholder page with nothing on it except links to Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. The YouTube account has never been used. The Twitter account has three tweets and all of 15 followers. The Facebook account is slightly more active, and claims 700+ likes: it implies some sort of attempt to revive the Allders brand online, but provides no hard information at all. I therefore have no idea whether this is a serious proposition or not, who is behind this site, or who claims ownership of the brand. The site certainly has nothing to do with the company described on this page. Unless you can learn to explain the facts behind the proposed revival, backed up by reliable sources, I will continue to regard this link as spam, and will continue to delete it. - I added the website address as it is the old url of allders and the comet group page still has the url and mfi on the wikipedia page so I don't see the problem otherwise you should remove all the url address on the other wikipedia pages as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.173.215.243 (talk) 00:45, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
- The problem is that there is nothing on the website, it is not the site of the company described in the article, and it can be of no interest to any reader who comes to this article wanting to know about Allders. Please read WP:NOT. I'm taking the link down again. I honestly don't understand what the website's purpose is: if it has one, please explain. Of the other two companies you name, MFI Group, although it has closed as a bricks-and-mortar company, is still trading online, so its website is still functional. Comet Group, however, appears to have ceased trading entirely, and its web address no longer exists: as you suggest, I shall remove the links from that page. GrindtXX (talk) 14:23, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
