How long are the sides of the tiles?

Especially the "Ammann 4" tiles looks simple. The lengths of the sides can surely be computed with some mathmatics, but it would be nice if they are given in a simple drawing. :-) --RokerHRO (talk) 11:14, 6 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Strange statement

I tagged the statement "Because all tilings obtained with the tiles are non-periodic, Ammann–Beenker tilings are considered aperiodic tilings" in the lead section for needing a citation, because I think this is a very strange statement. If an Ammann-Beenker tiling is created via the cut-and-project method without matching rules, then the tiles in the resulting tiling will be unmarked and thus not aperiodic tiles because there are periodic tilings that can be created with the unmarked tiles. But that tiling would still be an Ammann-Beenker tiling (since it is identical to a tiling obtainable from the aperiodic AB tiles with matching rules), right? Needs a lot of work

I am trying to make sense of this page and keep running into issues. 1) The description of the matching rules is unclear. A reference to the "edge arrows" is most confusing; they appear to be semicircles, not arrows. Could the edge markings also be sort of "S" shaped? It's not clear from the text. And there is no clear diagram of the large corner arrow; one must infer these things by looking at the first figure. 2) The first paragraph under "Description of tiles" is a huge run-on sentence that doesn't parse. I eventually had to drag out my dusty copy of Grünbaum and Geoffrey & Shephard, where I also found 3) they refer to Ammann's A4 tiles as "A4", not as "Ammann 4" as this page claims. I'm no expert on this topic (I have the book for other reasons), so I hope an actual expert can fix things. 24.18.126.152 (talk) 22:55, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
